what to expect on an adventure safari in tanzania

It’s exciting and really gets the adrenaline going! Of course, you’ll get to see lots of stunning animals but you’ll get really close to them, sometimes just a few feet away from zebras, hippos, elephants and even the lions (don’t worry, you’ll be inside your vehicle). The first time you see an animal you’ll draw in your breath – it’s an exhilarating feeling that you’ll never forget.

You’ll be amazed by the sweeping savannah land, rocky mountainous areas, the mesmerising sunsets too. Depending on the safari you want, you should see the monkeys, wildebeest, lions, cheetahs, zebras, rhinos, flamingos, hyenas, wild dogs and so many more animals!

Our guide will be sure to seek out the most enthralling sights for you to enjoy and you’ll be accompanied by an experienced driver. All our guides are very knowledgeable, knowing exactly where to find what you want to see and will recommend the best photo opportunities.

Tips for your Tanzania Adventure Safari

  • Pack accordingly…loose fitting, lightweight clothes, long sleeve cotton or linen shirts, try and keep it neutral (beige, khaki, light green). Wear comfortable shoes too; bring socks, a good hat or cap and UV sunglasses.
  • Take layers, the early mornings can be chilly.
  • Be wary of the animals – after all you are on an adventure safari so watch out and listen to your guide’s advice. If you’re told to stay put in the vehicle, do! Some of the wild cats including cheetahs may jump on your vehicle and some may come right up close and personal, to see you. Our guide will keep you safe so long as you listen carefully to instructions.
  • Bring a great camera and a spare memory card and battery.
  • Binoculars are useful as you can home in on some of the sights you’ll see and spot things that are far away.
  • Don’t forget hand sanitiser and plenty of insect repellent.
  • Your day will start early as animals love the morning time. You’ll see the giraffes breakfasting from leaves on the trees, elephants filing through the trees in search of their morning snack and gazelles drinking from the waterhole.
  • The evening adventure safaris are a great opportunity to see the night-time and nocturnal animals who come out to prowl for their dinner.
